If you have bad credit, your loan prospects are extremely botched. In many life activities that we do, especially those that involve our financial dealings, our credit reports as compiled and published by the credit bureaus are pulled up, assessed and evaluated. When we apply for a loan in banks and high street lending institutions, when we fill out forms for credit cards and submit them, when we rent apartments and houses, when we buy houses and cars, and even when we apply for a job, bank officers, credit card companies, loan firms, landlords, and even our potential bosses rely on the information that they get from the credit reports provided by the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion.

Question by jewstwos: Credit problems, solved by disputing them?
I have some collections and charge-offs on my credit report from between 4-5 years ago. There are a few that look like duplicates. I heard that if I pay all of it off then it will stay on my report for 7 years anyway. Should I just dispute every item on my credit report and hope it goes away? The total is about $ 5000 for everything. I know it was dumb to let this happen but I was a stupid kid who was over extended. I am in a good situation now to start over. But how?
